FAQ

What materials are the pieces made from?

Sailor Peng works with solid 925 sterling silver and solid 14k and 18k gold. 14k gold is a deliberate choice: its tone is lighter and more muted than 18k, closer to the quiet, matte gold the brand favors. Gold-plated pieces are always 18k gold vermeil: a layer of 18k gold over solid sterling silver.

Will the jewelry tarnish?

Sterling silver develops a natural patina that polishes off easily. Solid gold does not tarnish in the same way. See Care.

Are repairs possible?

Yes, and questions are always welcome. Write to store@sailorpeng.com with photographs and a short description of the piece, and the studio will get back to you with an assessment.

If the damage is due to a manufacturing or material defect, the repair is covered free of charge. Damage caused by wear, accidents or improper handling isn't covered, but most pieces can still be repaired: you'll receive a quote before any work begins.

Can I commission a custom piece?

Commission requests are always welcome. Each one is considered individually, depending on availability and the nature of the project. Write to store@sailorpeng.com with a short description of your idea.

Can a ring be resized after purchase?

Yes, for a fee. Write to store@sailorpeng.com and the details will be arranged with you. For finding your size, see Sizing.

Can I try a piece on before buying?

Yes. Pieces can be viewed and tried on by appointment at the studio in Basel. If Basel isn't easy to reach, write anyway: there is almost always a way to arrange something. Contact store@sailorpeng.com.
